An Analytical Study on Short and Medium Term Impact of Demonetization Vis-à-vis Remonetization on Indian Economy

One of Digital India’s stated goals is to be “faceless, paperless, and cashless.” The Indian government has set a lofty goal of making India a cashless society. A cashless economy is one in which no physical cash is in circulation and payments are made by electronic means such as credit cards, debit cards, net banking, or e-wallets.

In this study I have collated studies on the impact of demonetization in the Indian economy with special focus on the short and medium term impacts. The key focus of this study will be the theoretical along with the empirical approach to study the impact of demonetization on the Indian economy.

I have made efforts to study the impact of demonetization on the Indian economy and the advent of digital cashless system in India. Moreover, the observations as per my study tends to explain how gradualy people accepted the changes resulted due to the banning of the high value currency notes both negatively and positively. I hope this study provides a better insight on this significant event in the Indian economic history.
